Aquatics Coordinator

Simon Molyneux

Originally from London England, Simon has been the Aquatics Coordinator for Brushy Creek since January 2007. He has an extensive background that includes over 12 years experience managing Aquatic facilities. Personally, Simon also has 20+ years experience as a competitive swimmer and Triathlete, and competed in multiple competitions at the International level.

NSPF Certified Pool Operator (CPO)

PADI Rescue Diver certification

Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Team

All Brushy Creek Aquatic staff are responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons by preventing, recognizing and responding to all aquatic and non-aquatic emergencies. Other responsibilities include enforcing all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations. All staff are required to attend mandatory weekly in-service training sessions designed for reviewing lifesaving skills. All staff are also expected to maintain a level of fitness by completing monthly swimming requirements in preparation for the demands of the job.

Expectations:

Minimum entry level Lifeguard requirements:

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard (YMCA Lifeguard certifications will also be accepted)
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional rescuer

Minimum Swim Instructor requirements:

  • Red Cross WSI certification preferred
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional rescuer
  • Previous swim instruction experience preferred
  • Previous swim team experience preferred (high school or college)

Hiring for the summer will begin on March 1st. Applications for positions can be found in the Human Resources section, filled out and submitted online. Prospective applicants will be given an initial interview. At that time, proof of current certifications must be provided. All certifications must be current. Applicants will not be considered if any required certifications have expired. Successful candidates will be required to pass a skill evaluation, which includes demonstration of water rescue, first aid and CPR. Prior to employment you must pass a mandatory drug test, as this is a District policy for all new employees.
