Highland Horizon Pool Project

HIGHLAND HORIZON POOL CHEMICAL ROOM STORAGE EXPANSION

The Parks Committee and the Board approved the project concepts for several projects for fiscal years 2018-2020. Staff brought forward Project Plans for the Cat Hollow Pool & Park Restrooms Expansion and Highland Horizon Chemical Room and Storage Expansion projects.

In 2017, the Parks Committee recommended Board approval of the plans at Highland Horizon pool.  The plans included improving the chemical room storage area, adding storage for furniture and equipment, and providing space for vending machines.

The Board approved funding for the project to begin after the summer swim season.  Work began in October.  In November, the contractor uncovered water supply lines to the pool that did not show on the as-built drawings for the pool.  The structure of the expansion had be slightly re-designed by the architect to address the weight of the building on these lines.

Using the updated plans, the contractor started work again on the project in January 2019.  During the week of the January 14th, the pool will be closed for the demonstration of the one wall of the storage area.  This requires the gas heaters to be turned off,  The project is expected to be completed the first week of February.
