When you finish at the museum you are welcome to walk the short distance to the Japanese Tea Garden. (February’s weather is unpredictable so this part of the trip will be weather permitting.)
Originally a rock quarry, part of the tea garden came from a donation by George W. Brackenridge and another section from Emma Koehler. In 1915 Ray Lambert, city parks commissioner, thought it would make a nice location for a lily pond. Ultimately, it grew to become a tea garden. The garden features a lush year-round garden and a floral display with shaded walkways, stone bridges, a 60-foot waterfall and ponds filled with Koi.
Choices for lunch include:
- The Witte Museum Market which offers a wide range of food, snacks and beverages.
- The Jingu House Café at the Tea Gardens. Click here to see the menu at the Jingu House
