Blue Legacy Award

Brushy Creek MUD is proud to be recognized as an Blue Legacy Award Winner by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) for 2021. The Water Conservation Advisory Council created the Blue Legacy Awards to recognize responsible management of our water resources and to showcase examples of effective water stewardship. Brushy Creek MUD's leak detection program won the award for retail or wholesale water suppliers. The success of the District's water loss programs have resulted in an annual savings of $200,000 per year and an 8% unaccounted for water loss percentage, which is well below the industry average of 16% (Waterandhealth.org).

Superior Public Water System

Brushy Creek MUD is proud to be recognized as a Superior Public Water System by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) since 2006. The TCEQ recognizes overall excellence in the operation of a public water system by designating a system as “Superior” if it meets the stringent criteria set forth; this is the highest level attainable. To earn this designation, a system must meet and maintain a higher set of standards than are required of all public water systems.

Technology Innovation Award

In 2020, the District was nationally recognized for providing safe, virtual activities for Citizens during COVID-19. Brushy Creek Virtual School, Zoom Fitness, as well as BCMETS online activities for adults were recognized. In 2019, the District was recognized for the effective, multi-year plan to reduce water loss using technology in new water meters, leak detection, water use monitoring, and new billing software.

In 2021, the District was nationally recognized again for the efforts made during Winter Storm Uri in February. The Water Facility Supervisor along with the Water Facility Operators went above and beyond the call of duty to continue the flow of water to the District during unprecedented times. The efforts made won the District the 2021 Govtech Special Districts Award for Leadership
