Shirley McDonald Park and Pond Improvements

The Board of Directors approved a general engineering services contract with Bury + Partners, which included improvements to the Shirley McDonald Park and Dam. The pond improvement is now almost complete. The pond was drained and dredged to deepen it and the dam was reinforced, redesigned and repaired. Culverts were added to the dam to better control water overflow when the pond floods. A ground well was also added in order to maintain the water level of the pond. The well will also help to irrigate the park area to maintain ground cover and reduce run-off from the steep slopes. New landscaping has been installed and the trail area has been modified.
