The District is aware that fish are rapidly dying. We are working with Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) to determine the cause of the fish dying at Shirley McDonald Park (the Duck Pond.)  Dead fish are removed from the pond on a daily basis.  Due to the heat and extended drought, disolved oxygen levels in the water drop too low to support the fish. 

A report from TPWD will be provided to the District later this week.  This report will provide suggestions on how to improve the habitat for the fish.
